Frequently asked questions
Answers to what homeowners most often ask us about service, repairs and scheduling.
Services
How often should my furnace and air conditioner be serviced?
Most manufacturers recommend a tune-up once a year for each system. The usual practice is to service the furnace in fall and the air conditioner in spring. We offer maintenance for both, and for heat pumps.
Should I repair or replace an old furnace or AC?
It depends on the age of the unit, the cost of the repair and how often it has broken down. A newer system with one failed part is usually worth repairing. We will go through the options with you, and we give quotes on replacements.
Is a heat pump a good fit for a home in Southwest Ohio?
A heat pump heats and cools in one system and works year-round. Many Ohio homes use one, sometimes paired with a furnace for the coldest days. We repair, maintain and install heat pumps, and can tell you what suits your house.
Why is my AC running but not cooling the house?
Common causes are a dirty air filter, a dirty coil, a blocked condensate drain or low refrigerant. Check the filter and thermostat first. If the air is still warm, turn the system off and call us for a repair visit.
What can help with dust, allergies or humidity?
Clean air filters, duct cleaning, humidifiers and dehumidifiers all help, depending on the problem. We also install the iWave-R air cleaner. Tell us what you notice at home and we will suggest where to start.
